Time Tracker - Online Task Manager - usability review
Shankar forwarded me the cool online app called Time Tracker, which can be accessed from formassembly.com. The app is cool and indeed very well designed. The user experience is on up-side and AJAX effects like pulling the user/login settings is awesome. Simple idea and nicely executed.
Just had a few mins of run-through. Logged in as “guest” user. Saw a sample list of tasks shown in the main User interface. And to add a task, you will find a “Add a Task” button below the list of tasks. Interestingly, when clicking the button, the button hides itself, and two text boxes along with “OK Cancel” buttons appear in the same line. Way cool. Plain and simple with no “geeky” pop-ups or too much options.
I would love to see a link to set up “Advanced Options” to set up invitations and other task related stuffs. The use of “~” could be little confused to int’l users. One usability issue I noted is.. when I add more than 10 or 12 tasks a scroll bar appears and the “Add a Task” button is pushed out of screen (in layman’s term) or the button is out of the view port (in engineering term).
Also, the user has to click and hold the mouse button on the task detail, to see a pop-up menu that helps to delete / modify etc. How would I know that I have to click and hold the mouse button to access the menu options? Should have opted for a regular web-behavior like, button that shows pop-ups or some small icon which opens the pop-up list when hovered.
Other than these.. the app looks promising and cool. Try it and see.
